Sports Day - June 2017

Once again we were lucky with the weather this year.  The whole school divided into 25 teams each representing an Olympic Sport.  All the children performed brilliantly showing great teamwork and resilience.  Many thanks to the PTA for providing the refreshment stall.

Smoothie Bar - June 2017

The School Nutrition Action Group opened the Smoothie bar this week.  It was a great success with the first flavour being Strawberry, Banana and Vanilla Yoghurt.  Over £42.00 was raised which will buy produce and equipment going forward.

Plantworx Technology Visit - May 2017

The UK's biggest live working construction event PLANTWORX attracts all types of construction professionals; everybody involved with construction management, purchasing or operating equipment, construction site managers and construction project managers, plant hire and tool hire alongside construction operatives who get a chance to operate and test new equipment. Every year event organisers open the gates to local schools to with the focus on the future recruits to the industry and incorporates a dedicated Student Day inviting all ages along to take a look at the construction equipment industry.

British Science Week - March 2017

 

The whole school celebrated British Science Week by carrying out lots of different experiments.  KS1 were given just three materials; cardboard, spaghetti and playdough to construct a bridge.  Year 3 and 4 investigated liquids, solids and gases and the changes that happen when changes are made to their initial state.  Year 5 and 6 took part in the citizen project 'Penguin Watch'.  We were also delighted to welcome Mr Barsby who led an assembly about flight and how gliders stay up in the sky without engines.

21st April 2016 - The school congratulates the Queen on her 90th birthday

The whole school came together today to sing Happy Birthday to the Queen accompanied by a brass band.

Please click on the royal emblem to hear their wonderful voices.  The school has also made lengths of birthday bunting that will be used by Lutterworth Town Council to decorate the town centre.

18th March 2016 - JWPS does Sport Relief

The whole school supported Sport Relief 2016 by dressing up in their sportiest gear! So far we have raised over £150 and still counting - well done to all!

Mrs Nuttall and Miss Kerton accompanied three of our Healthy Schools team to collect the FFLP award.  The event was held at Broom Leys School. Whilst there they were treated to a wonderful lunch and also took part in a cookery workshop.

23rd February 2016 - Stardome Experience

Our Y5/6 pupils enjoyed exploring the solar system in the “Star Dome” portable planetarium this week. They studied the night time sky, learnt what the Egyptians thought about the stars and heard stories from this era. The children explored the solar system, visited the planets and enjoyed learning about constellations and moon phases. Thank you to the PTA for their support of this event. 11th February - Mini Gals

After a very successful course in the art of cheerleading our 'mini gals' excelled themselves with their performance on behalf of the school.  Well done to you all!

KS1 First Steps - 12th January 2016

The First Steps team are a group of professionals that come to school every year to teach our younger pupils the important rules to keep safe when crossing the road.

KS2 School Choir, Young Voices Concert, Genting Arena, Birmingham - 11th January 2016

Choirs range from 4,500 to 8,500 children, all performing at the same time to capacity audiences of friends and family.

Nothing can prepare you for the sound of thousands of children singing in harmony. Young Voices combines the power of singing together as one, with accompaniment from a wide range of musicians and artists, to create an amazing performance.

Every year, schools across the country practise our music in class with their teachers to prepare themselves to take part in these massive concerts.

Foundation Stage Nativity - Monday 7th December 2015

The youngest pupils in school showed no sign of nerves when they gave an excellent performance of 'Mary's Knitting' a modern take on the traditional nativity.  Well done to all!

Lutterworth Lights Switch On - Friday 27th November 2015

The school choir did us proud when they took to the stage to sing a medley of festive songs.

Annual Lutterworth Rotary Club Swimfest - Saturday 14th November 2015

A mix of Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 children formed two teams to swim as many lengths as possible in fifty five minutes.  Each team did themselves proud managing 102 lengths and had great fun too!  The children showed fine team spirit and supported each other admirable.  The grit and determination was tangible. The children have raised vital funds for a large range charities that are supported by the Rotary Club namely 'Wishes 4 Kids', 'Leicestershire Life Education Trust' and other Rotary approved charities.  We look forward to Swimfest 2016...

Remembrance Poppy Displays - October/November 2015

For half-term homework the children were asked to make a poppy.  These wonderful works of art were then taken to Morrisons Supermarket in Lutterworth to help make a display.  Many thanks to all the children for their spectacular contribution to support such a worthy cause.
